Valentines Day gift sparks artist collaboration …….
Valentines Day has been a special day for artists HP Pelzel and Sandy Boyd-Pelzel . They first dated on Valentines Day and on a subsequent one HP gave Sandy an interlocking heart stained glass art piece. That gift caused them to discover that they were both fond of stained glass and was a catalyst in taking a glass course together. HP and Sandy developed their skills through various professional courses and began producing and selling their art in 1997. They found that they could be better artists together–collaborating on color, design and the technical skills required for the stained glass medium.
In 2008 they took a pottery course expecting to be able to incorporate their glass skills into another medium. They immediately fell in love with Pottery. Since then they have studied with several local professional potters and attended regional and national demonstrations and workshops. They do handbuilt and wheel thrown items. They are members of the Triangle Potters Guild and the Potters Council. They attend many art shows to learn techniques from other artists. This inspiration helps bring a unique look to their art.
Art for Cancer…..
HP has been a cancer survivor since 1997. He and Sandy are volunteers for the American Cancer Society .The proceeds of their art sales are donated to this organization.
