Barry Reece was born on a small farm near Eldora, Iowa. He is proud of his agrarian roots. After a tour of duty in the U.S. Army he completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Nebraska. He spent 32 years as a college teacher and is currently Professor Emeritus at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
At age 70 he joined the Poets’ Corner, a poetry writing group made up of writers who live in Fearrington Village. He soon discovered the joys and challenges associated with writing poetry. Lingering Memories is a diverse collection of short poems that reflect a wide range of life experiences etched with joy, sorrow, and passion.
He lives in Fearrington Village with a spirited Lakeland terrier named Anna.
