Cardinal Earrings

Handmade Sculpey Earrings

These earrings have a special history.  Nancy was a very thoughtful woman and loving mother who struggled with medical issues, including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Parkinson’s.  Her husband passed away in 2004 from cancer, just as these conditions were worsening.  However, his never kept her from remaining as active in her community as possible, and in her later years spent a lot of her time making polymer clay creations for people—friends and family, caretakers, doctors, local business owners.  These creations ranged from jewelry pieces or individual themed objects, to small dioramas, each telling stories about loving and caring interactions with people she met, and whom she made extra efforts to get to know, appreciate and encourage.  Eventually she settled on earrings as a favorite, and made hundreds of different pairs.  It proved very therapeutic for her (along with playing original songs on piano) and was truly a labor of love.

Nancy passed away in 2015 at the age of 69 due to complications of her conditions and pneumonia.  Surviving are her two sons, daughter-in-law and son-in-law, and a grandson.  In going through her things we found several dozen pairs of these earrings.  After gifting a number of them to family members and special friends in memory of her, we felt there was no better way to honor her memory than to share the remaining with the community at large.

We hope you find some that speak to you, and that you will enjoy wearing, knowing they were lovingly crafted by a strong-spirited woman with a big heart and smile.  She would have loved meeting you and learning your story. ?
